"au Presentation 2019 Summer" Announcing new devices and new rate plans
KDDI held its "au Presentation 2019 Summer" event at The Prince Park Tower Tokyo in Minato Ward on May 13, announcing new mobile handsets, services, and TV commercials launching this summer.
At the outset, Executive Officer Takashi Tokai stated, "While we are considering services to make users' lives more convenient and enjoyable beyond telecommunications, this time we want to make exciting announcements about our communication services." He introduced nine mobile devices, including smartphones, to be released sequentially starting May 23.
Additionally, new discounted plans were announced: the "New au Pitat Plan," where pricing varies based on data usage; the "au Flat Plan 7 Plus," which allows up to 7GB of data usage without counting specific SNS usage toward data consumption (both accepting applications starting June 1); and the "au Data MAX Plan," offering unlimited data without caps (scheduled to accept applications this summer). "This time, we've prepared plans tailored to users' usage patterns. We aim to be the company customers feel closest to, the company that keeps proposing excitement. We will continue to provide new products and services, so please look forward to them," he stated.
During the talk session, Nanao, who plays Princess Otohime, and Rina Kawaei, who plays Princess Orihime, both appearing in the "Santaro Series" TV commercials, appeared as guests.
In the latest installment, "New Story ~ New Demon" (airing from May 17), seeing the battered Demon-chan (Masaki Suda) rush in, Momotaro (Shota Matsuda), Kintaro (Gaku Hamada), and Urashima Taro (Kenta Kiritani) all rise to defeat the demon. Suddenly, a small figure appears from behind. Princess Otohime, Princess Orihime, and Princess Kaguya (played by Kasumi Arimura) call out, "Mama!", leading the story into a new development.
After the new CM aired, Nanao announced, "Finally, our three sisters' mom has appeared!"
When asked about the intriguing cast, Kawaei smiled and commented, "I want to tell you, but it's a secret." Pressed for hints, Nanao teased, "The style of her clothes, her way of speaking, her vibe... she's a totally modern mom," building anticipation.
Tying in with Mother's Day the day before the announcement and the new "Mom" character, Nanao was asked about her own mother. She laughed and said, "She's my mom, so she's a strong person!" She shared how her mother remained calm even during her brother's rebellious phase, feeling the family bond and love in that.
Kawaei described her mother as "super bright and energetic. Above all, she's incredibly strong," highlighting how her mother's work has built her muscles and her ability to handle anything efficiently and skillfully.
A touch-and-try corner for the new device was set up at the venue, drawing a crowd of reporters.
