"NTT DOCOMO" Announces New Models and Services Ahead of Summer
NTT DOCOMO held its "2019 Summer New Service and Product Launch Event" at Bellesalle Shibuya First in Tokyo on May 16.

President Kazuhiro Yoshizawa stated in his address, "This year marks a year of transformation toward growth in the 2020s. The environment surrounding our company is also undergoing significant change. Amidst these circumstances, DoCoMo aims to make this a year of continuous evolution and bold challenges based on our 'beyond declaration'."
He also expressed confidence, stating, "I can tell you we are fully prepared for this year of transformation," and introduced 13 new products, including smartphones.
Presentations covered: - The new "Smartphone Return Program," where users purchasing eligible models in 36 installments can return the device under specified conditions to waive up to 12 installments. - The revamped "Anshin Pack," offering comprehensive support not just for mobile devices but also for digital appliances used at home. - Expanded features for the smartphone payment service "d Payment." - "FACE LOG," which analyzes skin condition photos taken with a smartphone camera to support health management.

For the new service "d Meal Kit powered by Oisix" (launching in July), which delivers pre-prepared ingredient sets for quick homemade cooking, Kohei Takashima, President of co-developer Oisix ra daichi, took the stage. He stated, "While meal kits often emphasize 'time-saving,' they also enrich life by increasing family time and encouraging children to eat more."

The talk session featured Gen Hoshino, who plays Producer Hoshino (Hoshino P) in the TV commercial series "Hoshino Pro Series," and Mackenyu Arata, who plays Donimal.
Hoshino commented on the "Smartphone Return Program," saying, "Smartphones keep evolving, but they're also getting more expensive. It's great to have that burden reduced." Nitta responded, "I want to give back to those who've helped me. I want to give something back to Hoshino-san."

Holding the new Xperia 1 smartphone, both expressed surprise at the vivid colors of the world's first 4K OLED display and the 21:9 CinemaWide format ideal for movie viewing, remarking, "The screen is huge!" and "The blacks are incredibly deep!" However, upon realizing the footage was the trailer for the movie "Spider-Man," they panicked, exclaiming, "Don't look, it's a spoiler!" and "Danger, danger!" as they quickly looked away, drawing laughter.

The two then took on an "O-Kuru" (send) themed acrostic poem challenge, inspired by "d Pay," which allows charging, money transfers, and sending d points. Nitta-san answered, "In Okinawa, I want to go cruising and see the lapis lazuli sea," while Hoshino-san replied, "On the open sea, cruising, leaving home behind."
Seeing each other's flip cards, they were surprised to find "cruising" appeared on both. When Hoshino shared her dream of "getting a boat license to go cruising," Nitta enthusiastically agreed, "Let's go together!"
Watching this, President Yoshizawa remarked, "That was surprisingly well-written for an impromptu essay," then smiled at Nitta, who had mentioned shooting a commercial in Okinawa, saying, "About Okinawa... I'll think about it."

After the presentation, the exhibition hall showcasing new devices and services bustled with many reporters.
