JXTG Energy, a Tokyo 2020 Gold Partner, signed a contract with the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee on July 3rd, becoming a Supporting Partner for the Olympic Torch Relay.
The company will contribute by supplying the gas used in the torches for the Olympic Torch Relay, which begins in March 2019.
The company also supplied kerosene and gas for the Olympic flame during the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.
The Olympic Torch Relay sponsorship program consists of three tiers: Presenting Partners, Supporting Partners, and Associating Partners.
President Katsuyuki Ota commented, "As a Gold Partner for the Tokyo Games, we are undertaking various activities under the slogan 'ENERGY for ALL'. This phrase embodies our desire to deliver passionate energy to everyone and energize Japan. As a Torch Relay Supporting Partner, we aim to develop unique initiatives at ENEOS stations nationwide."
Organizing Committee Chairman Yoshiro Mori commented, "It is very reassuring to have professional support for the energy supply, which is essential for a safe and smooth torch relay. We will work to deliver the unquenchable flame to as many people as possible across the nation."
