"au UNLIMITED WORLD Launch Event" The first year of Reiwa is the "Year of 5G"

KDDI held its "au UNLIMITED WORLD Presentation" on August 28, announcing initiatives for the 5G era and new pricing plans.

At the outset, President Makoto Takahashi declared the first year of Reiwa as the "Year of 5G," stating, "We are launching the 'UNLIMITED WORLD,' freed from past constraints." He unveiled the refreshed "au 5G" logo, designed to express a sense of advancement and the future. He added, "The 5G era will enable constant connectivity. An unlimited world is coming, where vast amounts of data can be handled instantly and without stress. We want to spread the vision of the 5G world through this name."

Regarding new pricing plans, the company announced it will offer the "au Data MAX Plan Netflix Pack" starting September 13th, designed to anticipate the 5G era. This plan features unlimited monthly data and is available starting at ¥4,880 per month when bundled with Netflix's Basic Plan. It qualifies for the "2-Year Contract N" discount, which reduces the monthly fee with a two-year commitment.
President Takahashi stated, "In the coming era, users will choose not just based on pricing plans, but also on which carrier is best for specific services like watching Netflix. We want to promote the 'UNLIMITED WORLD' through this plan."

He also said, "As we transition from 4G to 5G, I'd like to introduce several proposals," citing specific examples. Under the keyword "AUGMENTED," he discussed creating new experiences through initiatives like smart stadium enhancements to make soccer viewing more enjoyable (in collaboration with Nagoya Grampus Eight) and launching projects to discover and share the appeal of cities (in partnership with organizations like the Shibuya City Tourism Association).
He also announced that starting August 29, the smartphone payment service "au PAY" will become available to non-au users, and that content on "au Smart Pass Premium" will be significantly expanded starting in November.

Actors Ryunosuke Kamiki, Honoka Matsumoto, and Taishi Nakagawa, who star in the TV commercial series "Takasugi-kun: Too Conscious!", made a surprise appearance at the venue. This marked their first joint event appearance, with Kamiki smiling and saying, "It feels fresh to be standing here together holding microphones."
When the latest installment of the series, the "Karaoke" episode (airing from August 29th), was screened, Kamiki introduced it, saying, "This work is packed with our efforts." He revealed details about the filming, explaining that the episode features Takasugi-kun and Hosugi-kun engaging in a heated karaoke battle: "We shot the singing scenes first thing in the morning. We came up with the choreography ourselves."
