NTT DOCOMO Announces New Winter/Spring Models and Services
NTT DOCOMO held a presentation event on October 11 at Bellesalle Shiodome in Minato Ward, Tokyo, unveiling new services and products to be launched from winter 2019 through spring 2020.

President Kazuhiro Yoshizawa stated, "We announced our 'beyond declaration' in April 2017 and have since rolled out new services offering affordability, convenience, enjoyment, surprise, and peace of mind. We've seen positive responses from many customers, and as the next step, we've reached the stage of further expanding these products and services throughout society." He then unveiled eight new models designed with the 5G era in mind, including smartphones, kids' phones, easy-to-use phones, and TV terminals.
He then introduced FinTech services developed through collaboration with partner companies, such as the cashless payment service "d Pay" and "AI Insurance," which uses AI to suggest recommended insurance plans via smartphone screen interactions. He also explained "Net Trouble Anshin Support," which comprehensively addresses prevention, consultation, and warranty for internet troubles, and "my daiz," an AI agent service with navigation capabilities. "With the full-scale commercialization of 5G approaching next year, we aim to enhance the appeal of our products and services to deliver surprises and excitement that exceed customer expectations," he stated.

During the talk session, guests Hoshino Gen, Nitta Mackenyu, Hasegawa Hiroki, and Hamabe Minami—stars of the "Star Project" TV commercial series—appeared.
Reflecting on the past year since the campaign began, Hoshino commented, "The commercials generated a huge response right from the start. Since we all film together, we've become really close and it's been a lot of fun." Hasegawa also shared, "It's been a whirlwind year. As the oldest member, I thought I had to liven things up... but both Hoshino and Makkenyu are so entertaining, the set is always lively," highlighting the friendly atmosphere on set.


In a segment highlighting the gap between the new Galaxy A20 smartphone's rich basic features, multifunctionality, user-friendliness, and low price, the cast revealed their own unexpected traits. Hamabe mentioned Nitta's hidden side: "She loves sweets but also loves super spicy food." Nitta then pointed out Hamabe's gap: "She's always bright on set, but she also loves spending time alone," noting how Hamabe, who usually brings a cheerful vibe, values her solitary time, sparking lively conversation.


Hoshino shared his thoughts: "I want to keep building excitement for the 'Hoshipro' series. Our bonds are deepening, and I think that comes across on screen, so please look forward to it."
The press conference venue featured a touch-and-try corner for new products, including five smartphone models. Booths for "d Payment," "AI Insurance," "Net Trouble Anshin Support," and "my daiz" were also bustling with many media representatives.
