Nice to meet you. I'm Naomi Okamura, an Art Director at Dentsu Lab Tokyo.
I'm usually involved in creating digital content and data visualizations, but I also eagerly take on various other projects like videos and posters.
This time, I'd like to introduce the case study of "℃uration," a project by Dentsu Lab Tokyo, through a manga.

When you think, "Wouldn't it be great if we could do something like
When I thought, "Wouldn't it be great if we could do something like this? But is it even possible?", I could immediately ask specialists in various fields. We also had meetings where we assigned responsibilities and conducted surveys.
It was through these discussions and conversations that Dentsu Lab Tokyo's R&D project "℃uration" began.
This "give it a shot" mindset allows for personal projects on weekends and various adventures. However, from my perspective as an AD, the moment technology gets involved, it becomes too much for one person to handle, and I tend to hesitate...
This time, I was fortunate to have the opportunity, and encouraged by everyone's "give it a shot" mindset, I was able to get started.

Ideal and Reality
Commemorative photos from major life milestones, or photos from that memorable day.
"When you place a photo, the exhibition space and the place captured in that photo at that exact moment become connected through air of the same temperature and humidity."
That was the very first idea behind "℃uration."
However, when attempting to realize this, controlling the "air" became unavoidable.
Controlling "air" as a physical substance proved far more difficult than I had imagined, requiring solutions to numerous challenges like installation location and system control, not to mention significant funding...

If you try things out
This "℃uration" project began with the idea of "trying things out,"
Despite the twists and turns, we somehow managed to complete it and exhibit it, and we were truly blessed with many wonderful opportunities.
I didn't know if it would even be possible, and it wasn't solving any particular problem.
It was a project driven solely by the simple desire to "give it a try." But perhaps that's precisely why there are so many fields we can challenge ourselves in.
As people rooted in "advertising" and "expression," we continue to daydream about new technologies and experiences we can pioneer. Every day, we wait for opportunities to "try things out."
