Regional Support Project "#BecomeACircleHiroshima" Commences Activities

This project serves as a platform to spread "circles of mutual support" and "caring hearts" while Hiroshima Prefecture unites to fight COVID-19, aiming to lift spirits. To ensure the mutual support initiatives emerging across the prefecture don't remain limited activities, the local media, advertising industry, and business community are joining forces to increase awareness of individual efforts. By leveraging Hiroshima-based media, the project aims to expand the circle of mutual support and connect various activities into a long-term, large-scale movement. It also serves as a "unifying phrase" to gather and spread the "spirit of compassion" – the desire to support those suffering or facing challenges during the pandemic.
Anticipating the prolonged pandemic, the project plans a medium-to-long-term rollout from June 1 until the end of COVID-19. It will launch an official website and SNS accounts (Twitter/Instagram) to share local voices and activities. It will also solicit donations from companies within the prefecture, donating the entire amount, minus necessary expenses, to the prefecture's related fund.
On the 1st, Executive Committee Chairman Tetsuya Okahata, President of the Chugoku Shimbun, visited the Hiroshima Prefectural Government Office to report on the initiative to Governor Hidehiko Yuzaki.
Furthermore, the June 2 morning edition of the Chugoku Shimbun featured a full-page advertisement announcing the project's launch. A joint TV commercial featuring announcers from various broadcasters is also airing. Future plans include commercials featuring athletes and dedicated project introduction segments within each station's information programs.

Comment from the Executive Committee
Postwar Hiroshima achieved a dramatic recovery
and built the current cityscape and way of life.
and built the cityscape and way of life we see today.
Suddenly thrust into the era of living with COVID-19,
through the "#Hiroshima, Let's Unite" initiative,
we aim to support the spirit of "We won't be beaten!" in every citizen
and contribute to a brighter future for Hiroshima.
