NTT DOCOMO began airing the first installment of its new TV commercial series on October 23rd, featuring Gen Hoshino, Hiroki Hasegawa, Mackenyu Arata, Kanna Hashimoto, and Minami Hamabe as its image characters. The episode is titled "Teacher, Do You Know About 5G?"
This series focuses on schools—where connections first form—and teachers, in a world where human connections are being reevaluated. This installment synchronizes the excitement for 5G, which enriches our new daily lives, with the anticipation for the release of the 5G-compatible iPhone 12.
All five cast members, who have previously appeared in NTT Docomo TV commercials, play teachers in this story set in the staff room.
The commercial begins with Teacher Hashimoto (Health Room) bringing up the topic of 5G.
While the intrigued Mr. Hamabe (Math) and Mr. Nitta (English) join the conversation, Mr. Hasegawa (Chemistry) counters, "New isn't always better," and Mr. Nitta argues that such thinking is outdated. Just as the tension seems about to boil over... Mr. Hoshino (Japanese), brimming with excitement for 5G, interjects, "But I'm super excited about it~!"
Though Mr. Hasegawa stubbornly maintained, "Not everything new is necessarily good," the four were stunned when they saw him answer an incoming call! The smartphone Mr. Hasegawa held was a 5G-compatible iPhone 12.
Following the stunned expressions of Mr. Nitta and the others, Mr. Hoshino pressed on with a wry smile, "That's the latest model, right?" Mr. Hasegawa suddenly changed his attitude, shrugging it off with "This is the latest, right?" and headed cheerfully with the four teachers toward the classroom where the students waited.

Amidst the current social issue of students experiencing "lost goals" (the loss of the youth they should have experienced), the CM was planned with the intent to empathize with students and society by setting the stage, albeit virtually, in a "school."
Starting the same day, a special website and official SNS will sequentially release all five web videos, allowing viewers to further enjoy the teachers' camaraderie and each character's unique personality.
