The "Alternative Comfort Research" team, launched by members of Dentsu Inc.'s cross-functional "Digital Creative Center" in collaboration with Dentsu International Information Services (ISID)'s Open Innovation Lab, will present "Alternative Comfort," an experiential exhibition that uses ALife (Artificial Life) technology to perceive the richness of natural sounds, in Omotesando from December 19 to 25. For this exhibition, the team received technical support for a soundscape device jointly developed by ALIFE Lab. and ISID.
ALife is an activity seeking to discover the "operating system of life" that generates "autonomy" and "evolution," aiming to clarify the principles of life phenomena. It is gaining global attention as a research field with the potential to transcend the limitations of AI (artificial intelligence). The exhibition features an algorithm using ALife that autonomously generates a sound space embodying nature's inherent complexity. Visitors can experience how changes in this sound environment interact with light and subtle sensations. It also tests whether the complex, naturally derived sound environment created by ALife becomes a comfortable sound environment for humans.
