DENTSU DESIGN FIRM Presents "15 EXPANSIONS" Exhibition Unleashing the Potential of Materials

The exhibition "15 EXPANSIONS" by the Product Design School, hosted by Dentsu Inc.'s cross-organizational unit " DENTSU DESIGN FIRM," will be held at Material ConneXion Tokyo in Roppongi, Tokyo, from May 11 to June 10.

At the exhibition, 15 creators who participated in the Product Design School will draw out the hidden potential of "materials" whose uses were previously limited by their distinctive functions, proposing products from unprecedented new perspectives. The theme this time is Mitsubishi Chemical's monocular-type moth-eye anti-reflective film "Moth-Eye™". Works exploring new applications and scenarios for this anti-reflective film—which mimics the microscopic protrusions found in moth eyes (moth-eye) to minimize light reflection to the utmost—will be exhibited.

MothMite™, which achieves unprecedented low reflectivity by mimicking the microscopic protrusions found in moth eyes, has not seen widespread adoption due to its weakness: it is difficult to use on surfaces that are frequently touched. We are grateful to the creators who worked diligently to overcome this weakness by seeing, touching, and feeling the material themselves to create their works. We made numerous new discoveries ourselves and were once again impressed by Dentsu Inc.'s creativity and innovation.
