The Japan Times On Sunday, a tabloid-sized Sunday paper published by The Japan Times, won an Excellence Award in the Redesign category (evaluating newspaper redesigns) at the 35th Best News Design Competition (hosted by the News Design Association, headquartered in Florida, USA).
The NewsDizign Association, which includes design professionals from news media around the world, holds this competition annually to recognize high-design newspaper layouts.
The Japan Times' redesign, which transitioned from "The Japan Times Weekly" to "The Japan Times On Sunday" following its business partnership with The New York Times launched in October 2013, was recognized for its design.
