US News★NBC Tops Prime Time Ratings

NBC topped the four major U.S. broadcast networks in the 18-49 demographic ratings for prime time during the 2013-2014 season (September 2013 to May 2014). Nielsen reports that its average nightly viewership increased by 13.7% compared to the previous season, reaching 3.47 million viewers. NBC had consistently ranked last since the 2003-04 season. However, it surged to the top, boosted by strong performances from its NFL broadcast "Sunday Night Football," coverage of the Sochi Olympics, the talent show "The Voice," and the major suspense drama "The Blacklist" starring James Spader.

In the same time slot, FOX ranked second thanks to the "Super Bowl," last year's leader CBS came in third, and ABC finished last. NBC, which holds the broadcast rights for next season's "Super Bowl," is showing determination to win back-to-back titles.
