Dentsu Inc. Youth Research Department (hereafter "Dentsu Wakamon"), which aims to understand the realities of young people and build better relationships between youth and society, collaborated with WEGO (hereafter "WEGO"), which operates over 100 stores nationwide and continues to support the lifestyles of Japanese youth through fashion. WEGO), which operates over 100 stores nationwide and continues to support the lifestyles of Japanese youth through fashion.
As its first initiative, the studio will launch an information website and co-host the group competition event "Clothes Hack TOKYO" with Waseda University's Advertising Research Club on August 1st, targeting university fashion clubs. The event's keyword is "Unlock Fashion."
Fashion circles from universities in the Tokyo metropolitan area and sponsoring companies will gather to send messages to the world through fashion.
The theme for the first event is "Defy the Conventions of Job Hunting Style." University students belonging to fashion circles will compete by creating "new job hunting styles" in a short time and presenting them on August 1, the day job interviews officially begin.
The event leverages the network of "CircleApp " (Circle Up*1), an integrated mailing list platform for student groups like university clubs and seminars provided by Dentsu Inc. Wakamon since 2013.
CircleApp has supported events focusing on the potential of university clubs, including the band club festival SOUND YOUTH (co-hosted with Sony Music Entertainment; its third edition scheduled for September 2015) and the comedy club team competition NOROSHI (conducted with Yoshimoto Creative Agency).
While the percentage of university students belonging to clubs rose from 56% in 2001 to 70% in 2013 (※2), many club activities are losing touch with society. By supporting events that involve university clubs, CircleApp creates connections between students—whose activities were previously confined to their clubs—and businesses and society. The upcoming Clothes Hack TOKYO is part of this effort.
