In China's first-half (January-June) box office rankings, "STAND BY ME Doraemon" placed 10th. According to NNA, which distributes Asian economic news, the film opened on May 28th and recorded approximately 529.88 million yuan ($77.5 million) in box office revenue within about one month. This hit surpassed its Japanese box office revenue from last year (8.38 billion yen / $97.5 million).
According to the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television, among other films, three Hollywood productions surpassed 1 billion yuan: "Fast & Furious 7" with 2.42635 billion yuan, "Avengers: Age of Ultron," and "Jurassic World." Among domestic films, including those from Hong Kong, "The Monkey King 2" (also titled "The Monkey King 2: The Legend Continues"), starring Chow Yun-fat, became the biggest hit with 974.36 million yuan, ranking fourth overall.
Total box office revenue nationwide for the first half of the year reached 20.363 billion yuan. This comprised 9.536 billion yuan for domestic films and 10.827 billion yuan for foreign films.
