The New York Times published a nearly blank two-page advertisement. Only the URL "wordsarelife.com" was printed small at the very bottom of the second page.
The URL links to the advertising site for 20th Century Fox's film "The Book Thief." The film tells the story of a girl who steals books under the Nazi regime. The studio stated, "The aim was to let viewers experience what it's like to be the protagonist (who initially couldn't read). We wanted them to feel what a world without words is like."
