Ad Age released its "Agency Report 2016." This report is based on its own compilation of data from over 1,000 U.S. agencies, including full-service ad agencies, media, digital, marketing services, and PR firms. In 2015, the total domestic gross profit of U.S. advertising agencies showed strong growth, increasing 6.5% year-on-year to $46.8 billion. Continuing the trend from the previous year, the digital sector drove sales growth. Its share of gross profit rose from 39.7% in 2014 to 41.3%, accounting for over 40% of the total.
In the standalone global advertising agency rankings, Dentsu Inc. maintained its top position. In the global advertising agency group rankings, the top five groups retained their positions unchanged from the previous year, with the "Big 5" pulling away from those ranked 6th and below. However, the rise of digital agencies not affiliated with major advertising groups, such as Accenture Interactive (6th) and IBM Interactive Experience (9th), was notable.
