Dentsu Inc. Reaches Agreement to Acquire 51% Stake in Indonesia's Largest Independent Integrated Advertising Agency, "Dwi Sapta Group"
Dentsu Aegis Network, the overseas headquarters of Dentsu Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Toshihiro Yamamoto; Capital: ¥74,609.81 million), has agreed to acquire a 51% stake in Dwi Sapta Group (Headquarters: Jakarta; CEO & Founder: Aloysius Adji Watono; hereinafter "Dwi Sapta Group") within the first quarter of fiscal 2017. Indonesia is a promising advertising market, the largest in Southeast Asia and the eighth largest globally. Through this acquisition, the Company aims to further expand its business in Indonesia and establish a leading position in this market.
Founded in 1981, the Dwi Sapta Group has grown into Indonesia's largest independent full-service advertising agency, now comprising nine companies specializing in creative, media, digital, PR, and other areas, with approximately 400 employees. In media services, where global agencies dominate the top ranks, the company ranks fourth in size and provides advertising services to approximately 150 clients, including leading Indonesian corporations.
Following the acquisition, we will accelerate our growth strategy in Indonesia by enhancing synergies through business collaboration and integration between the companies under the Dua Sapta Group and our own group companies operating locally.
The impact of this transaction on the consolidated results for the fiscal year ending December 2017 will be minimal.
