SoftBank began airing a new TV commercial in its "Shirotokke Family" series titled "Family Stress Relief" on November 25. The setting is a neighborhood karaoke box. Starring mother Kanako Higuchi, daughter Aya Ueto, her brother Dante Carver, and grandchildren Ryoma Takeuchi and Hana Sugisaki, the ad introduces a stress-free 50GB data plan for the whole family.
The family gets into the groove singing the hit TV anime Neon Genesis Evangelion's theme song "Cruel Angel's Thesis," with Takeuchi performing original choreography. However, an unexpected turn of events unfolds at this karaoke box.
"Ah, that was stress-relieving," says a satisfied-looking Takeuchi, contrasting with White Dog Dad who grumbles, "Far from relieving stress, it just made me more stressed." The next moment, the room door opens, and seeing the person who appears, the entire Shiroto family gasps.
So, who is this person...?
Surrounded by a large crew on set, Takeuchi-san sang passionately. You'd think she'd be nervous right before the actual recording, but when Ueto-san asked, "Are you nervous?", she immediately replied, "Not at all (laughs)."
True to his word, he showcased his impressive vocal skills, adding original choreography and even improvising an a cappella section midway through, astonishing both his co-stars and the entire staff.
The new TV commercial can be viewed in the CM gallery on the company's website. Keep your eyes on the Shiroto family's activities going forward.
