The 6th Brain Online Video Award (BOVA), an online video contest hosted by the Advertising Council, was held. The promotional video "Ikeda's Great Duel: 'Chickie-chan VS Wombat'" (Planned and produced by Dentsu Inc. + Soda Communications) for Ikeda City, Osaka Prefecture, won the Grand Prix in the Advertiser category.
This year saw a record number of entries: 276 in the Open Category (including 107 in the Student Category) and 221 in the Advertiser Category, totaling 497 entries.
Ikeda City Mayor Kaoru Kurata attended the award ceremony held on April 11 at Roppongi Academy Hills in Minato Ward, Tokyo.
"Chick-chan VS Wombat" features "Chick-chan," Ikeda City's tourism ambassador, and the city's prized tourism attraction, the "Wombat," transformed into ferocious monsters battling each other while destroying and showcasing Ikeda City's tourist facilities. To achieve a special effects movie-like tone within a limited budget, the technique of "dramation" was employed.
The runner-up prize went to "The Party Bus: I Can't Say I Like It" (Shiseido). The Jury Special Awards were given to three works: "The Unskippable Theater" (Nitori), "MISO MEETS MUSIC / DJ MARUKOME Launches" (Marukome), and "Spring" (Recruit Lifestyle).
