Panasonic Becomes Olympic Torch Relay Partner

Panasonic, a Worldwide Partner of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, signed a contract with the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee on February 19, becoming the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Torch Relay Supporting Partner.

Akira Kono, Head of Consumer Marketing Japan Headquarters, commented: "In addition to supporting the Games as a Worldwide Partner, we will now also fulfill the role of Olympic Torch Relay Partner. Through our wide range of product categories and promotional activities, we aim to convey the excitement of the Torch Relay nationwide and contribute to uniting Japan in enthusiasm as we approach the Games."

Yoshiro Mori, President of the Tokyo 2020 Organizing Committee, commented, "The Tokyo Olympic Torch Relay will see many runners and staff members carry the flame across Japan over 121 days. We expect this company, which has been close to the lives of people throughout Japan through its products and technologies, to play a significant role in the Torch Relay as well."

The Tokyo 2020 Olympic Flame arrived at the Japan Air Self-Defense Force Matsushima Air Base in Miyagi Prefecture on March 20. It will then be displayed as the "Flame of Recovery" in Miyagi, Iwate, and Fukushima Prefectures. Departing Fukushima Prefecture on March 26, it will travel throughout Japan until the Opening Ceremony on July 24.
