No Peko Lab Hosts "Yami Yami Meal Gathering" on Goo Goo Day (September 9th) with Food Education Theme

Dentsu Inc.'s "No Peko Lab, " which aims to solve all kinds of problems related to "children and food," will release a food education video on YouTube on September 9 (Goo Goo Day) titled "Yami Yami Meal Club." The video features children conducting their own culinary research, guided by a cooking advisor, to discover how leftover ingredients can be transformed into delicious meals.

Additionally, at an exhibition event starting on the 9th, free samples of dishes made using the cooking advisor's secret recipes will be distributed (limited to 20 servings per day).

※What is Yami Yami Gohan?
A portmanteau of "yummy" and "yami" (dark) from "yami nabe" (dark pot). It's a magical recipe that turns any leftovers into something delicious.

■About September 9th (Goo Goo Day)
September 9th is designated as "Goo Goo Day" (officially recognized by the Japan Anniversary Association), a day for everyone to think about and take action regarding "children and food".

■About No-Peko Lab
No-Peko Lab (meaning "No, I'm not hungry!") is a creative lab focused on the themes of hunger and poverty. It aims to solve all kinds of problems related to "Children and Food" in a fun and impactful way by collaborating with various companies, organizations, and society at large. Launched in 2019, it transforms social contributions—things we know are good but often struggle to act on—into fun activities that everyone wants to participate in and feel personally connected to, while solving challenges for companies and organizations.

Centered around September 9th (Guu Guu Day), it held a commemorative event in 2019 co-hosted with Minato Children's Cafeteria. In 2020, it partnered with Minato Ward to distribute food to families struggling during the pandemic with corporate sponsorships, and collaborated with the Shirokane Shopping District Association to sell No-Peko-kun Bento boxes with restaurants experiencing increased takeout demand. In 2021, we produced 12 song videos: one explaining the real-world link between food waste and hunger (mass disposal → fuel consumption → CO2 emissions → global warming → extreme weather → crop failures in developing countries → spread of hunger and poverty), and others featuring recipes using leftover fridge ingredients. Concurrently, we proposed fun collaborative projects to various companies each year. Starting in October, we will also implement collaborative content on the House Foods Group's food loss website.
