"Because We Cannot Understand Each Other" Exhibition Opens at Ad Museum Tokyo on June 25
Ad Museum Tokyo (Shiodome, Tokyo) will host the special exhibition "Because We Cannot Understand Each Other" from Wednesday, June 25 to Saturday, August 30.
According to the latest "Global Gender Gap Report" recently released by the World Economic Forum (WEF), Japan ranks 118th out of 148 countries in the Gender Gap Index. Approaches to gender awareness and expression are still being explored and updated. This exhibition is an attempt to learn what communication can achieve through advertising examples and to continue thinking together about this current situation.
The exhibition is structured around keywords that prompt our actions, such as "Try raising your voice," "Try asking questions," and "Try stopping assumptions." It introduces approximately 60 advertising examples from Japan and abroad, including videos, graphics, and physical objects. The exhibition also features interactive displays designed to encourage dialogue and thought, as well as collaborative displays with the permanent exhibition and library.

【Statement】
Precisely because we cannot understand each other.
We imagine.
We ask questions.
We converse.
We create something.
2024
Japan's Gender Gap Index
ranked 118th out of 146 countries.
Faced with a gap that remains unbridged,
Instead of despairing.
Let us not be driven to division by frustration,
by frustration.
Each of us is unique,
as each and every individual human being.
It is precisely because we cannot fully understand one another
the potential for communication
Why not explore it?
