IAA World Advertising Congress Opens with Theme of "Innovation and Evolution"

The 43rd IAA (International Advertising Association) World Advertising Congress was held in Beijing for three days from May 8 to 10 at the China National Convention Center. The main theme was "Innovation and Evolution." Approximately 1,200 people from 45 countries and regions around the world, including advertisers, media companies, advertising agencies, and advertising organizations, gathered for the event. This was the second time the congress was held in Beijing, following 2004.

At the opening ceremony on the 9th, following the opening address by Chairman Faris Abu-Mahad, keynote speeches were given by WPP Group CEO Martin Sorrell and Ogilvy & Mather Greater China Chairman T.B. Song. In the afternoon panel discussion, media executives exchanged opinions on the theme of "Evolving Media."

In addition, Tim Andrey, Senior Managing Executive Officer of Dentsu Inc. and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Dentsu Aegis Network, and John Defterios, Editor and Anchor of CNN International, held a dialogue titled "The Evolving Consumer." During the discussion, Andreé addressed the globalization of consumers and media convergence, stating, "While there is a global integration of costs and systems, global clients must remain local. Content must be valuable and relevant."

On the 10th, presentations were given by TBWA Chairman Jean-Marie Dole and Zong Min, Chief Researcher at Hakuhodo Life Research Institute (Shanghai). At the closing ceremony, the IAA and the China Advertising Association announced the Beijing Declaration, pledging to continue contributing to the common development of global advertising and sharing innovation and evolution, bringing the event to a close.
