Well, time has passed, and the hustle and bustle of Cannes has faded into distant memory. That feverish craving for ideas I felt back then has been completely cured by the miracle cure called reality. These days, I'm back to being just another regular salaryman, commuting between work and home. No, no, I mustn't let that happen. I need to remember that passion.

So this time, I'm bringing you another interview with a colleague I worked with during my NY days! It's Margo, one of the team members I trusted immensely!

Sasaki: How should I describe Margo's current job?

Margo: I'm a digital producer.

Sasaki: Margo, you were the key person in executing projects, handling everything from managing the progress of plans, communicating with clients, to dealing with production companies. Thank you. What kind of work does a producer do?

Margo: It's like knowing a recipe isn't enough to make a delicious dish, right? You need to know which ingredients to mix, when, and how. I think a producer's job is to execute that precisely.

Sasaki: I see. Did you study that kind of thing when you were a student?

Margo during our April 2013 interview. A brilliant and wonderful producer who leaves a different impression every time we meet.

Margo: I've learned so many different things over the years. Storytelling, photojournalism, documentary filmmaking, and more.

Sasaki: That's great, so multifaceted. And now you're working in digital.

Margo: Technology has the power to connect people, drive innovation, and make lives better. Just look at this smartphone—you can do anything with it. It's a powerful and fascinating world.

Sasaki: That's right. It feels like there's so much more we can do, which is why I keep playing around with digital too.

Margo: Of course, we're not robots, so digital alone isn't fun. The experience is analog. Actually, DIY is trending in New York right now.

Sasaki: How do you always catch onto these trends?

Margo: I think New York is a city where you just walk outside and get all kinds of information and inspiration. I also check blogs and Instagram, and share info with friends.

Sasaki: Did you always live in New York?

Margo: I live in Harlem now, but I'm originally from California. It's totally different from New York—the pace is slower, people are friendlier, and outdoor activities are really fun.

Sasaki: Sounds great, the outdoors. Haven't been canoeing, fishing, or camping lately. By the way, what do you like to do, Margo?

Margo: Too many things! I love learning, I love salsa, I love dancing, I recently started teaching yoga, I love cooking, photography, illustration, and of course, the outdoors...

Sasaki: Wow, you're passionate! So active! What do you want to do next?

Margo: I want to go to Tokyo! And I want to travel around Asia. Right now I'm working in advertising, but in the future, I'd like to try working in social good.

Sasaki: As for me... I wonder where I'm headed. No, no, what's the point of worrying about myself? That's great. I'm sure you'll make that vision happen, Margo. So finally, could you give everyone in Japan a little encouragement to go abroad?

Margo: I think Japan is definitely a really great place. It might be so good you don't want to leave, but there are so many things you won't understand unless you go out. There's learning to be had outside your comfort zone, so I really hope you travel more and more.

Sasaki: Thank you, Margo!

During my time in New York, Margot was truly a rock. Unlike workaholics like me, she's an amazing person who tries all sorts of things. Her site has tons of photos she took on Instagram, and seeing them always inspired me.

Well then, as this average salaryman remembers feeling a little feverish again, see you next time!
