The 2014 Miss International World Pageant (hosted by the International Cultural Association) was held on November 11 at the Grand Prince Hotel New Takanawa in Shinagawa, Tokyo. Valerie Hernandez Matías, representing Puerto Rico, was crowned Miss International 2014.
Seventy-three representatives from countries and regions participated in the pageant. After judging in national costume, swimsuit, and evening gown, ten finalists were selected. Valerie was then chosen as Miss International 2014 based on her speech. Valerie expressed her joy, stating, "This is Puerto Rico's second time winning the title. I want to use this international title to serve those who need it." Valerie will now engage in charity work for international goodwill and world peace.
Second place went to Suleika Suárez of Colombia, third place to Punika Coursontornrat of Thailand, fourth place to Victoria Charlotte Tobey of the United Kingdom, and fifth place to Mira Ronpänen of Finland. Unfortunately, Rira Hongo of Japan did not make it to the final round.
