Google's third-quarter advertising revenue this year reached $12.5 billion (approximately ¥1.2 trillion), a 15% increase year-on-year. Advertising once accounted for over 96% of total revenue, but this share has decreased since last year, now standing at 91%. Meanwhile, non-advertising revenue, including movie rentals via Google Play, app sales, and hardware sales like Chromebooks, surged 85% to $1.2 billion (approximately ¥118 billion).
In Q3, total ad clicks increased 26% year-over-year, but the average cost per click decreased 8%. While ad costs have been declining since Q4 2011, the primary factor is the shift to mobile devices, which generally have lower ad costs than desktop computers.
