On October 21, Coca-Cola Japan launched "Canada Dry Hot Ginger Ale," the first hot carbonated beverage in Coca-Cola history, nationwide. A campaign began on the 23rd, featuring the TV commercial "Hot Carbonation Factory."
On the brand site, a five-part development story, told in a documentary style, follows the company's fictional factory manager as he conceives the idea for "Hot Carbonation," undergoes trial and error, and completes the product. This story can be viewed alongside the TV commercial. The actual product development also took four years.

On October 23rd, a launch commemorative PR event was held at the event space of Takashimaya Shinjuku in Tokyo, featuring the comedy trio Dacho Club as guests.
Member Ryuhei Ueshima performed his signature reaction act, "Hot Water Bath." After getting out of the bath, Ueshima, who was supposed to drink a "carbonated drink colder than ice," exclaimed, "Whoa, this is warm!" with a puzzled expression. It turned out to be a prank—only Ueshima had been told it was an event for a cold drink, not a hot one—which drew laughter from the audience.
