In response to the rapid increase in Chinese tourists visiting Japan, major travel agency JTB has opened a specialized store for Japan travel in Beijing's Chaoyang District. This marks the company's first store in China.
Operations will be handled by JTB New Era International Travel Agency, a joint venture with China CITIC Group, a major Chinese conglomerate. Although JTB New Era became the first foreign travel agency to receive Chinese government approval for overseas travel sales targeting Chinese customers in May 2011, its operations have primarily focused on online sales and group travel services, partly due to the impact of the Great East Japan Earthquake.
The new store will staff personnel with extensive knowledge of tourism across Japan. They will tailor travel packages individually to meet customers' specific requests. The store will feature a 100-inch large display and exhibition space, also functioning as a promotional space where local governments and companies from across Japan can disseminate information.
