On November 24, Dentsu Inc. announced that its two domestic direct subsidiaries, Dentsu Young & Rubicam (DY&R) and Dentsu Wunderman (DW), will merge effective January 1, 2016. The merged company will be renamed "Dentsu Young & Rubicam Wunderman Inc. (planned)."
DY&R was established in November 1981 as a joint venture between Dentsu Inc. and Young & Rubicam (Y&R) of the United States, operating as a brand agency. DW was established in March 1985 as a direct marketing specialist agency through a joint venture between Dentsu Inc. and Y&R, developing business in the CRM field.
While both companies have previously advanced the integration of brand advertising and relationship marketing, they have determined that developing integrated services leveraging both business foundations is necessary alongside streamlining management. This merger will enhance competitiveness in integrated communication design centered on branding and data-driven services, while also driving the creation of new value.
