Bridgestone, a Worldwide Partner of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), launched a campaign for the Rio Olympics featuring advertisements in newspapers and magazines promoting its manifesto, a dedicated website ( http://www.bridgestone.co.jp/chaseyourdream/ ), and television commercials.
In June 2014, the company became the first tire manufacturer to sign the highest-level "TOP Sponsor" contract with the IOC, becoming a Worldwide Partner. The contract runs through the 2024 Summer Games, including the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics. Bridgestone will be the official tire for Games vehicles and holds priority negotiation rights for supplying seismic isolation rubber used in competition facilities and bicycles (excluding electric and motor-assisted types) used by athletes and officials.
In June, ahead of the Rio Games opening, the company held a press conference in Tokyo titled "Utilizing Olympic Sponsor Rights." Regarding the TOP sponsorship agreement, Vice President Masahiko Nishiyama stated, "As the world's number one tire manufacturer, we considered the Olympics the ultimate communication platform to become a truly global company." He revealed "CHASE YOUR DREAM" as the key message for Bridgestone's Olympic manifesto.
