On September 15, the Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association (CESA) announced the Grand Prize and other awards for the "Japan Game Awards 2016" at the Tokyo Game Show 2016 venue, Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture.
The Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award was given to the "Dragon Quest 30th Anniversary Project," operated by the Dragon Quest 30th Anniversary Executive Committee formed by Square Enix and Dentsu Inc.
Yuji Horii, creator of the Dragon Quest series, took the stage at the awards ceremony.
The Dragon Quest series celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, hosting events such as "Real Escape Game × Dragon Quest: Escape from the Dragon King's Labyrinth," "Dragon Quest Live Spectacle Tour," and "Dragon Quest Museum." Furthermore, its unprecedented scale of collaborative initiatives with various companies, all originating from the game, was recognized.
The Japan Game Awards: Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry Award was established in 2008 to honor individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the growth and development of Japan's computer entertainment software industry through the achievements of works produced and released in recent years.
