Google Zeitgeist 2013 features video footage of robot astronaut KIROBO

Google Zeitgeist is a website that compiles rankings of the most searched keywords of the year, as well as keywords that saw a sharp increase in search volume. Based on these rankings, a video symbolizing that year is released annually. For the 2013 global edition (Google Zeitgeist|Here’s to 2013), footage of KIROBO, the robot astronaut currently residing on the International Space Station, was featured.

The approximately one-and-a-half-minute video features the British Royal Baby, Pope Francis, the late President Mandela, the late Prime Minister Thatcher, and the Russian meteor, among others. From Japan, Mr. Yuichiro Miura, who successfully climbed Mount Everest at age 80, and KIROBO were selected. KIROBO's footage appears in the video at [0:53-0:54].

KIROBO is a humanoid robot jointly developed by Dentsu Inc., the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology at the University of Tokyo, Robo Garage, and Toyota Motor Corporation.
