Broadcast and streaming confirmed on 99 commercial radio stations and radiko! Takuma Takasaki's youth novel "Auto-Reverse" becomes a binaural recording radio drama.

 

The Japan Commercial Broadcasters Association Radio Committee and radiko have produced the youth radio drama "Auto Reverse" as part of their joint TOMORROW PROJECT initiative "Radio is Great." It will be broadcast and streamed in December. After airing single-episode versions across 99 commercial radio stations, the complete 11-episode version will be streamed on radiko.

The drama is based on the novel of the same name by Takuma Takasaki. It tells the story of two boys who spent their youth as members of an idol fan club in the 1980s. Soya Igari and Ryuto Sakuma of HiHi Jets passionately portray the boys. The drama features a rich soundtrack of 80s pop songs, making it enjoyable for both younger generations and those who remember the era. The drama is directed by Naoki Nagao, a commercial director and film director.

radiko, celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, features all 99 commercial radio stations. Its user base has grown in response to the recent trend of promoting remote work from home due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This work was recorded using a three-dimensional sound system (binaural recording). Listening with earphones or headphones provides an immersive experience, as if you were actually present at the scene.

"Auto Reverse" Overview

■Synopsis
Transfer student Nao Hashimoto from Fukuoka meets fellow transfer student Takashina at his new middle school in Chiba. With no place to belong at his school, plagued by rampant violence, or at home, he finds Kyoko Koizumi, a rising idol. Joining her fan club, Nao and Takashina discover a "place to belong."

However, as the fan club grows, Nao feels uneasy about its increasingly biker-gang-like behavior. A deep rift gradually forms between him and Takashina, who aims to become the group's leader...
