Webinar: "Redeveloping OJT for the Telework Era: How to Move Beyond 'Learning by Watching the Back'" - September 27 (Participants Sought)

Dentsu Inc. Business Transformation Division and FunTre are recruiting participants for the webinar "Redeveloping OJT in the Telework Era: How to Move Beyond 'Learning by Watching Your Back'", to be held on September 27.

Since the pandemic, the rapid acceleration of remote work has significantly reduced opportunities for new hires to "learn by watching their seniors' backs," clearly diminishing their learning. Even when e-Learning content is provided, it often goes unused.

Mr. Takeshi Inuzuka, who has conducted interviews with hundreds of corporate HR and training managers and provided solutions for implementing new OJT in the new normal era based on academic insights, and Ms. Tomoko Handa, Career Design Producer at Dentsu Inc.'s Human Resources Bureau. They will engage in a thorough discussion on talent development within remote work environments.

【Panelist Profiles】

Communication Director, Third Integrated Solutions Bureau, Dentsu Inc.

Primarily engaged in planning and branding centered on solving social issues. Activities span a wide range including copywriting, book production, web development, event execution, campaign planning, new product development, new business strategy, business design, corporate rebranding, and regional branding.
Also a member of 'dentsu abic,' a specialized planning group supporting regional branding and city promotion.
Furthermore, leveraging the "cultural communication skills" acquired through experience, he is involved in projects that verbalize the tacit knowledge embedded within corporate cultures, specifically the experience-based knowledge of veteran employees, and promotes its sharing. He is also a specialist in on-the-job training (OJT)-centered field education. Amidst the advancement of remote work, he is particularly dedicated to nurturing new and young employees.
He is a co-author of the book "Introduction to 'Art Thinking': Using Imagination as a Weapon" (PHP Institute).

Tomoko Handa
Career Design Producer, Human Resources Bureau, Dentsu Inc.

Her first assignment was in the Magazine Department at the Chubu Branch. She handled a wide range of duties, primarily magazine media sales, including event and product development linked to magazine projects, and creating collaborative manga with comic magazines. Focusing on relationship building, she single-handedly managed projects unique to a branch office of 300 people, successfully leading numerous planning initiatives. After marriage, childbirth, and childcare leave, she transferred to the Tokyo Head Office HR Section in 2013, where she was responsible for new employee orientation. In 2015, she gave birth to twins and took her second maternity and childcare leave.
In 2017, she returned to work for the second time as a "working mother of three children." After returning, she led the planning and operation of a new initiative—"Growth Support Measures for All Employees"—from the ground up within the company's corporate department, which was advancing labor environment reforms. The initiative aimed to increase employees' learning time by reducing working hours. She promoted the development of learning content alongside external experts. Within six months, she planned and produced approximately 70 courses, mobilizing 1,500 participants and achieving an average satisfaction rating of 4.6 out of 5.
In 2020, amid the push for remote work, I faced a gap between HR development initiatives focused on off-the-job training (Off-JT) and the needs for on-the-job training (OJT)-centered field education. To bridge this gap, I leveraged my experience in production work that emphasized relationship building to achieve collaboration that transcended the barriers between HR and the field. He continues to plan and propose new development initiatives focused on each employee's individuality and strengths, striving daily to integrate talent development with career design.
